What Happened to January?

I started out the new year with great intentions.  I have  a new blog journal with tons of subjects, a file full of photos on the pc, and a series on getting organized planned.

So what happened?

That thing called life.

My huband's grandfather had what they believe was a stroke on the 4th.  On the 8th they called in the family....which was also my husband's birthday.  His Paw Paw didn't pass that day though, but did on the 10th.  Saturday the 12th was the receiving of friends and a beautiful military funeral.  Paw Paw was a wonerful man that we all loved and is missed so much already.

Late Sunday night, about 11:30, my 7 year old wakes us up.  Stomach flu.  Worst I think I have ever seen.  Then she goes back to school on Wednesday and I take her 4 year old brother the doctor.  Strep infection.  At 5am Thursday, the stomach flu gets him.

Now I'm not feeling so well.  We can't seem to catch a break.

Hopefully next week I can get back in the grove of things.  I have a series planned for getting organized and details and the how to's of planning a Willy Wonka birthday party.

Last year I started a series of 100 Days of Holidays and Inspiration and had a lot of fun with it.  I was really hoping to do one again this year, but, I am 12 weeks away from my due date (baby #3!) and I do not feel that I would be able to fulfill my duties of posting to it on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis.  As you can tell, I've been rather scarce around here this year as it is.  This pregnancy has had a few complications along the way, but everything is looking really good right now.  I've been trying to maintain my focus on keeping myself healthy and preparing for childbirth. Planning an Organized Home - Part 1 - Chore Charts

I started a post on this a few weeks ago and started getting so far in to it that it was looking more like a book than a post.  So, I decided to break it down in to a mini series called: Planning an Organized Home It's a short, six part series that I want to share with you on how I started to get our home organized and in a better routine than we have had in the past.  The more routine, the less whining "why do we have to??".  It becomes a part of every day life for every one in the house. The first thing I worked on were chore charts: one for the kids and one for the parents.  While I have a pretty good routine for my own household chores, having it in writing and staring me down keeps me from falling off track so much.  I searched online for different printable and customizable charts, and ended up finding some pre-loaded with my ancient laptop under Microsoft Works.  If you have Microsoft Excel or Word, you can do the same thing.  I attempted to copy our chart to

Organized Home: Spring Cleaning

This week we welcome spring!  Depending on where you live, that may sound like a joke.  We had spring like weather this weekend, but this week we will drop back to freezing temps at night, and not much better during the day.  I think spring did a little too much springing forward last weekend.  😏 However, our spring break is coming up soon and what better time to do some spring cleaning?  For those of you that do not get a "spring break", have no fear: I have a plan for you as well.  Trying to make that spring cleaning list can seem so endless that you don't know where to begin, or if you even want to.  I always make a list that is unrealistic.  Like there is no way I can do everything possible on my list, and it just stays a list for months and months, until I finally give up and throw it away. Not this year. I have decided to simplify my list.  Well, simplify it after I have made that big, long, never-going-to-get-it-all-done-list.  This is what I added to my H
