100 Days of Holiday Inspiration-Black Friday-47 Days & Counting

We are officially 2 weeks to Thanksgiving and 2 weeks until the start of that crazy Christmas shopping marathon.  Have you got your list ready yet? I have been hawking down the Black Friday websites since the end of October and finally today the big one came out: Wal-Mart.  Have you seen the ad yet?  Click here for all the Black Friday Ads . My girlfriend called me this morning squealing: It's here! It's here!  Now I can finally decide what can be purchased now and what has to wait until the big shopping day. I've already been through all the other stores and made my list, but I have to wait on good ol' Wally World's ad before I make my final decisions.  They are going to have Monster High dolls for $10 starting at 8pm on Thanksgiving.  Whoo hoo!  Those bad boys are usually $20 and up.  These may not have all those extra little trinkets, who knows, but I don't care.  My dear daughter has circled them in every toy ad so far and it's the main thing she w

100 Days of Holiday Inspiration-Christmas Music-48 Days & Counting

I can't stand it this year.  I just don't want to wait any longer to hear my Christmas music!!  Every year I try so hard to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to start playing my music.  Mainly because Thanksgiving gets over looked so much, I hate to feel like I am skipping over it.  For some reason though this year I just can't wait any longer! All my normal radio stations for Christmas music have usually started up by now, but all 3 are still playing the day to day music.  Seriously!?  You're killing me dj's. So I got "smart" and grabbed my smart phone and went to the app store.  If you have any kind of smart phone or tablet, you can do the same.  I just typed in Christmas Music into the search bar and found a great app, simply called "Christmas Radio".  Once I downloaded and opened it, up popped a list of hundreds of stations.  Yay me! (Doing my happy dance.) Maybe it's all the depressing posts and arguments people are scribbling

100 Days of Holiday Inspiration-DIY Angel Ornament-49 Days & Counting

Image
I saw a cute little idea of making an angel out of a small wood bead and a Hershey kiss, and a brainstorm started.  I started sorting through all my Christmas decor until I found exactly what I was looking for: bell garland. Let's get started, shall we? Supplies:   1" round wood bead Dollar Tree Bell Garland Hot Glue Gun Pipe Cleaners Scissors   Clip a bell off of the garland strip. Take the wood bead and work it on to the tip of the bell.   Make sure you get the bead with the larger hole.   Next, take a pipe cleaner and make a loop on one end, about 1 1/2" in size.   Take the other side and make a matching loop.  Wrap the loose in around the middle a couple of times-but leave some extra.    Take another pipe cleaner and shape a smaller loop on one end, then bend it 90 degrees.     Take and wrap this piece around the wings.  Also notice I bent the wings in some (like a heart) to give it more shape.

100 Days of Holidays-Glitter Vase-50 Days & Counting

We are halfway through our countdown!  Can you believe we only have 50 days left until Christmas??  Let's get things back rolling with the next silly simple DIY craft. How many of you have flower vases just sitting in wait, under a cabinet or in a closet?  How about any mason jars?  Have I ever told you I'm a hoarder?  I've saved every glass jar this year from jelly to pickles this year.  For this project you can use any glass container you have on hand. Supplies: Glass container/vase of your choice DST (Double Sided Tape) or Glue Glitter Pan/Plate to catch excess glitter Decide on a pattern and start applying the DST.   Next step is take off the back side of the paper backing on the DST and start adding glitter.   Make sure you coat all of the exposed glue/DST thoroughly.        Take a paint brush and smooth out the glitter, filling in the gaps.  Turn and shake it to make sure all the loose glitter falls off. Now fill it wi

100 Days of Holidays-Holiday Bucket List-53 Days & Counting

"Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, amongst the heathen and I will sing praises unto thy name." 2 Samuel 22:50 Today I am thankful for my wonderful, loving husband of 13 years (15 years together).  He supports my craft obsession, my dreams and goals to have my own business.  He also puts up with the monstrous mood swings, short temper, high strung, OCD, panic attacks, on the go and all out crazy wife and mom that I am.  I love him so very much and I don't think he realizes just how thankful I am for him.  I love you baby! OK, today I started my very first "bucket list".  Essentially a list of "to do's" that are more like "want" to do's.  Things I want to do every holiday season and do not always get accomplished.  So I made a list this year and I am plan on sticking to it.  We'll see how it goes.  Here's what I have so far: Buy the Elf on the Shelf & Book, find unique places for it all season. Have all

100 Days of Holiday Inspiration-Be Thankful-54 Days & Counting

What happened here?  I just started this series last week didn't I?  Wow, what happened to October!?! Today is November the 1st and I have a challenge for all of you: Be Thankful. Name one thing every day you are thankful for.  Put it on your Facebook page, "Pin" it, Blog it or put up a poster board on your kitchen wall and write the things you are thankful for there.  Have everyone in your family join in by sharing what they are thankful for as well.  Truly this is something we should do every day of the year, but at least in the days leading up to Thanksgiving-before we get sucked in to that vacuum cleaner of holiday shopping-just be thankful. My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by Hurricane Sandy's wrath on the East Coast.  Here in North Carolina we just got heavy wind for several days, so I know we were very fortunate.  For those affected please know that we are all praying for you. "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his ste
