100 Days of Holidays 2016

It's hard to believe that it's that time of year again!  100 Days of Holidays begins today and I am so excited!  Well, at least I'm trying to be.  It's hard to get in the Fall spirit, when you still need tank tops and flip flops every day.  Here in the South, the forecasts keep telling us that we will have a "warmer than average" fall.  It's been this way for several years now, so I'm wondering when they will actually increase that average.  Ugh. Anyway! We are going to try and bring on the hoodie wearing, hot cocoa making, bonfire mood one way or another.  I'm going to be sharing with you some of my favorite links, blogs, DIY finds and everything else that goes with these 100 days of Holidays.  Time to lighten our spirits from all the negativity out there and get lost in some holiday fun finds. My first post for the countdown will follow this one. Until next time, Amy~The Dixie Diva

100 Days of Crafts, Gifts & More     This next project is one that was recently brought to my attention by a friend asking if I could make them.  I really don't know the proper name for them but it's a ribbon key chain made using a large wood bead.   I toyed around with this for a while trying to decide the best way to make one, and I'm pretty pleased with the end result.  For the most part these are pretty easy to make. Supplies: 1" wood beads Key ring paint/sealer/stickers/ect ribbon glue (I found these at Joann's) You will also want to find a way of propping up these beads so you can paint them.  I was ever so elegant in mine. Yes, I used a paint brush.  But I also was able to place some on dowel rods and then stood them up in a block of foam to paint.  For mine, I painted them red and added a hand painted bulldog paw for my daughter's school mascot.  You could hand paint anything you like or use stickers.  I finish t

100 Days of Holiday Inspiration-Yarn Ball-91 Days & Counting

100 Days Crafts, Gifts & More! Hey everyone! Today's craft is the Yarn Ball.  These are really fun to make but a little bit messy.  We made these back at Easter using embroidery floss and the kids really had a good time with it.  All you need are some balloons in different sizes, embroidery floss or yarn, liquid starch and flour.  Oh and make sure you fully cover the work area with newspaper and have lots of paper towels or wet wipes handy. You make them the same way we did at Easter (see link here)  but this time using fall or Christmas colors.  They take about 12 hours or more to dry completely and once they are dry you can pop the balloon and pull it out.  You can hang larger ones from the ceiling and place the smaller ones in decorative baskets.  I'm sorry I don't have any new ones to show you photos of, but as soon as I do I will post them. Short and sweet today everyone!  I promise to have some more detailed crafts soon, but this week w

100 Days of Holiday Inspiration-Mummy Pumpkins-97 Days & Counting

Holiday Countdown 2012 100 Days of Crafts, Gifts & More 97 Days till Christmas 64 Days till Thanksgiving 42 days till Halloween If you have noticed a delay in the posts I apologize.  I have several blogs ready to go and "scheduled" to be published each day at a certain time.  However, it hasn't worked so far so my apologies. On to the next craft! Another cute idea I found somewhere online (sorry-brain freeze and I can't find my reference) was to turn pumpkins in to cute "mummies".  This is another extremely easy project and inexpensive.  The kids will love helping you make these. Supplies: Pumpkin (real or fake) Gauze Google Eyes Glue of your choice Start with one end of the gauze and apply some glue or even double sided sticky tape.  Start wrapping from the bottom and around, and around, and around.  There is no exact science to this one, be as creative as you wish!  It is a good idea to start
